About Alberta Grains and the Farm Cash Program
Alberta Grains is newly formed as the result of the amalgamation of the Alberta Wheat Commission and the Alberta Barley Commission. We are a licensed administrator of the AAFC Advance Payment Program, providing loans both interest free and interest-bearing to hundreds of successful applicants each year, coming from the cereal crops, livestock, and honey producers across Western Canada. The Farm Cash Manager will lead a team of three and report directly to the Director of Finance and Administration, Alberta Grains. This is a full-time on-site position at the Alberta Grains offices in NE Calgary.

About the Opportunity
We're seeking an experienced individual that is very analytical, passionate about numbers and has a loan assessment and management background. The successful candidate will be client focused and risk adverse to provide excellent customer service to the producers. You have a continuous improvement mindset and use a questioning attitude to surface complex problems to improve the Advance Payment Program (APP) for producers.

Your essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Managing day-to-day operational processing of loans for the Advance Payment Program (APP) along with performing frequent analysis and audits for management reporting
- Negotiating interest rates annually with bank institutions
- Overseeing and approving documentation of loan applications
- Conducting audits, communicating issues, and providing training for financial procedures and proper cash flow handling
- Understanding, establishing, and enforcing uniform cash flow policies to improve the tracking, analysis and efficiency of cash management
- Ensuring proper payments, billing, transactions, and cash flow requires the ability to explain and distribute accurate and consistent information across multiple channels for producers
- Analyzing loan agreement processes and recommending solutions for better managing and controlling of cash activities
- Preparing financial reports and presenting findings to the Committee and Board members
- Obtaining necessary banking information for loan agreement applications
- Supporting the annual audit process requests
- Ensuring bank reconciliations are completed monthly
- Complying with the terms and conditions of the Advance Payment Program (APP) administrator agreement
- Managing and developing staff in a fair, equitable, and transparent manner; training and onboarding of seasonal help
About You
To qualify, you must have a post-secondary degree, preferably in finance, banking, credit unions, loan management, risk management, accounting or a related field, as well as, a minimum of 5-8 years of experience in a senior leadership role, and 5 years of experience in cash management or a related field. A valid driver's license is also required for this role.
The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:
- Experience with delivering a government program
- Experience with regulatory environments
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office
- Strong financial modelling and analytical skills
- Managed several reports
Preferred Requirements
- Agriculture industry experience (farming, marketing, governance, research)
- Not-for-profit and/or industry association experience
- Working knowledge of Alberta Labor Law
- Experience dealing with multiple levels of government
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
